Finally, I would like to thank everyone who donated food and bottles.

Group Committee Meeting October 1, 2009

24th Parkallen Group Committee will be meeting on October 1, 2009 at the new Southgate Mall Food Court starting at 7:30 PM. Our Group Committee is made up of parent volunteers and Section Leaders. This allows parents to be involved in the program by helping sew scarves, plan camps and help organize the Fundraisers for our Group. With parents being part of the group committee allows the Section Leaders to spend more time developing their program for the children. We are also looking for parents interested in filling the positions of Treasurer and Secretary for this year.

Registration Night and Group Committee Meeting

Our 2009/2010 Scouting year begins on August 20, 2009 at our early bird registration night at the Parkallen Community Hall (Skate Shack behind the Hall) starting at 6:30 PM. Our Open House/Registration Night will be held mid September at the Parkallen school where you can meet all the leaders and see what our group offers for each of our programs. Regular meetings start the week after our Open House/Registration Night.

Fees for our Scout Group is what Scout Canada requires us to charge are:

Early Bird (August 20, 2009 ) is $165.00 per youth or $390.000 per family (3 or more youths).

2009/2010 season will be $180.00 per youth or $405.000 per family (3 or more youths).

This fee pays for the registration and Insurance with Scouts Canada.

Our Group has three Fundraisers we do every year. We do two bottle drives each year, one in October and another in April and a Scout Popcorn Sale. The Scout Popcorn is not a mandatory fundraiser for our group but Scouts Canada does have badges and prizes for children to earn and we give out Scout Bucks that can be redeemed at the Scout Shop.

Finally, we are always looking for parent volunteers to help out with our program either as a Parent Helper, member of our group committee or as a section leader.

Registrations Forms are available at the Northern Lights Council Website www.ncl.scouts.ca.

MS Walk 2009

This year leaders and youth of 24th Parkallen Scout Group had organized a MS Walk Team for the MS Walk 2009. On May 31st our team proudly walked 10 km to raise awareness and raise funds for MS research. All who walked knew someone who currently live with this condition or have lost someone to it.

24th Parkallen Scout Group would like to thank all those who supported this effort.
