Remembrance Day Parade 2011

Every year the 24th Parkallen Scouting Group participates in the Remembrance Day Parade at the University of Alberta Butterdome (corner of 87 Avenue and 114 Street).  Please dress in full dress uniform and arrive no later that 9:30 AM.

This is a special time for our youth to march alongside with our veterans, those who currently serve in our armed forces and most of all remembering those that have gave their lives during times of war, armed conflicts and in peace so we can live in freedom today.

Summer Scouting

While officially on break some of our Scouts were willing and able to help volunteer for Scouts Canada at the grand opening of Cabela's in Edmonton. Scouts Canada had a tent for set up in the parking lot of Cabela's to celebrate the grand opening weekend and promote Scouting in Edmonton. Sydney and Aura volunteered two days to help one of the many things that they take part in and enjoy. They helped with set up/take down, show some of the skills that you learn through scouting and how to bring on the adventure. We like to thank all the people and volunteers who came out and put this event together.

What a Great Year

Our Scouting year has come to a close for 2010/2011. I would like to thank all the parents, children and our volunteers for all the hard work you had put into this scouting year. I know all the beavers, cubs and scouts had lots of fun bringing on the adventure.

I am also pleased to announce that our Scout Troop won the Chris Buchkowski Award for best campsite, first place in the Snoopy's Biplane challenge and First Overall Award for best Troop at the Spring Thaw Camp this year. I like to thanks all the Scouts who attended this camp for all their hard work to achieve this level of honor. I would also like to thank Scouter Gerry and Scouter Krista for all their time and effort in creating a top notch scout program.

Just a reminder that all early registrations before September 1st for the 2011/2012 Scouting Year will be at the 2010/2011 rate.

I look forward to seeing everyone next year and wish everyone a great summer.

Pictures from Sea Critter Night

The Beaver, Cub and Scout sections were in for a treat as our very own Scouter Gerry hosted at Sea Critter Night at the University of Alberta. Our kids were introduced to many types of sea life and had a chance to touch or hold these creatures. Below are a few examples.
